At long last, football season is right around the corner. I’m very excited for this upcoming year as we look to continue our success at the Stafford Bulldogs Youth Football League. Also, there will be a new coach this year at Stafford High, as Coach Bernier will not be returning, we wish him the best.
SBYFL practices will start this year on Monday July 29th at 5:30pm. Please be there early to fill-out paperwork if you have not already done so. The cost is $100 per child. You can also sign up online at bulldogsyouthfootball.com or click here to print forms –> football forms.

Just a few photos to commemorate a long and fruitful journey that started on the first week of August and concluded with a victory in the 2011 B-Team NCFL Championship over a great Colchester Cougar team, 26-8! Thank you to all the parents, the SBYFL board, and most of all to the awesome young football players who represented their town with great discipline, sportsmanship, and pride. It was an honor to be involved in this amazing accomplishment. Hopefully you enjoy these photos that I hijacked from peoples’ Facebook pages. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Sorry for getting this out so late but it’s better late than never. After a week off Kate and I were back at it. Tocka talks about the storm and power outages, Dance Break w Hillary is back, and we have a lot of local news. Thanks to Alex from Basil’s for letting us shoot our show from there! Check out the videos above, one is our Kate & Kurt Show and the other is Dr. Dutton’s history video from the Stafford St. Common. Congrats to the Stafford Bulldogs B-Team football team for winning the Northern Division for the first time in many years. I’m so proud to be a part of this! We need your support next Sunday @ 2pm in Tolland as we take on Colchester in the NCFL Superbowl.
This weekend is an exciting weekend for local football. Friday night Stafford High will travel to Coventry to take on the Patriots under the lights at 7:00pm. Good luck to the Bulldogs this week as they try to get there first win of the season after a heart-breaking loss on the last play of the game last week versus Enfield High. The Stafford Youth Bulldogs will be hosting the Enfield Ramblers this weekend at Olympic field. Here are the times: D-Team 2pm, C-Team 4pm, B-Team 6pm, A-Team 8pm. All the teams are having good seasons so far. A-Team is 2-2, B is 3-1, and C is 3-1. Make sure you come down and support us and hopefully we’ll continue our winning ways, the food is great too!
Also, this weekend the UConn Huskies will be traveling to Morgantown, WV to take on the 16th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. Good luck to Coach Pasqualoni and the Huskies! Check UConn quarterback Johnny McEntee’s trick shot video below, it’s awesome!
The 2011 football season is almost here and it’s my favorite time of year. Stafford Bulldogs youth football is looking forward to a great season. Our numbers are up from last year, and all the teams are looking to make the playoffs and compete for a championship. Coach Bernier’s Stafford High Bulldogs are returning a lot of starters from last year’s squad and look to have a winning record for the first time since the 1990’s. They are loaded with athletes so let’s make sure we are up there on Friday nights rooting them on.
UConn football is coming off it’s greatest season in history with a BCS bowl appearance. They have a new head coach in Paul Pasqualoni and are setting their sights very high this year as well. I, personally, had the priveledge of playing for Coach P at WCSU in 1986, and if anyone can keep the Huskies heading in the right direction it’s him.
After a preseason lockout, the NFL is finally ready to play some football. Make sure you play Coach Vail’s click your picks every week of the season and win some great prizes by picking the winners of each week’s games. Paradiso Insurance intern Kevin Smith and myself will be making the picks as well and sharing our thoughts on each week’s games plus a recap of all the local action each week. Please let me know who you think is going to win Superbowl XLVI this year.
Football season is here, finally, and practice has begun for the NCAA, NFL, and even for the Stafford Bulldogs youth football. High school practice begins next week. On a local level we are pretty optimistic at the youth and high school levels. I will be an assistant coach for the B-Team this year and my son Noah will be on the team. We will be starting “Coach Vail’s Click your Picks” for the first week of then NFL season.
It’s a fun competition that will take place every week where you pick the winners of the games and if you do well you can win prizes to local businesses. We had a great time with it last year and look to improve on it this year. I look forward to working with Paradiso Insurance intern and Stafford native Kevin Smith on making it bigger and better.
The highlight of the competition was shooting the videos with my picks for the week. We went to local businesses and asked local residents there opinions, it was fun. Check out two of the better videos that we did last year below. You can see all of the videos, the links are on the right side bar, stay tuned!
Tomorrow is the Stafford Summerfest that will take place at Stafford High School. This will be a full day of fun events and vendors and it will end with fireworks at night! The
Happy 4th of July
festivities kick off with the 1st Annual Road Race that is being held in honor of Bruce Beaupre. Bruce was a great guy and sister Michele is a close friend, so do what you can to support this cause.
There will be a lot of different activities, including many different bands that will be playing throughout the day. Make sure you stop over to the Stafford Youth Football tent to see me. There will be fried dough, a bounce house, and fun joust game for the kids. Make sure you sign up your sons and daughters for football and cheerleading, see you there.
